need a scene for directing class

i need a scene involving at least 2 characters, where each has a conflicting motivation and one needs to "win", or convince the other to go his way.

he suggests it be a scene from an existing film, but can be original.

I can't think of anything good. Any ideas?

Thanks

All I can think of off the top of my head would be several scenes from Pulp Fiction between Jules and Vincent, like the foot massage dialogue, or their discussions of religion. Ther's also a lot of scenes in Clerks like that. Or the scene between Mookie and Pino before the infamous montage of racial slurs.

A good scene is between Mikey (Favreau) and Rob (Ron Livingston) from SWINGERS when Mikey is at the depths of his depression.

The one where Rob comes in with the pepperoni and they go on and talk about living with the pain of a break-up.

Citizen Kane
The scene where he is put on allowance like a kid again. Great Mis-en-scene in that scene.

12 Angry Men
The bathroom scene.

The Godfather
(Part 1, as you know I will not acknowlege the other two films)
Sonny asks to run the family business after Don Correleone gets shot.

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
"Forming of the Fellowship" scene.

Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King

Sam and Frodo. Smeagol is the catalyst for Sam and Frodo's fight, when Frodo tells Sam to go home.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Black Pearl
When Jack Sparrow swings Will Turner over the side of the ship and says, "Your father was a pirate, accept it", convincing Will to ride along side him on the ship.

thanks for the suggestions!

sry to make this hard, but one more thing, can you guys think of any good scenes that take place or COULD take place outdoors around sunset (or sunrise), maybe on the coast?

My directing instructor told us no lighting (which just about killed me) so I'd like to use the great vistas available to me.

THANKS AGAIN!

Takes place at night/sunset.

DO IT do it do it do it do it...

One of my favorite scenes!!!

And then post it post it post it.

i'd like to try something less ambitious, plus isn't Gollum in that scene? I don't wana put an actor on all fours and have him do a voice, lol

The last scene in Casablanca where Rick convinces Ilsa to get on the plane.

The scene in Butch Cassidy where Butch convinces Sundance to jump off the cliff.

Any scene in the show 24 where Jack tortures someone for information and gets it.

The last scene in Seven where Kevin Spacey tries to convince Brad Pitt to kill him, with Morgan Freeman, although that makes it 3 people.

The scene in The Godfather where Michael convinces Kay to marry him.

wow, great suggestions. I'd do Se7en but don't want to reshoot a movie I'm very familiar with, let alone one of my favorites.

The first 2 I'll have to consider, just gotta get the scripts and check them out. Thanks!

If you can't get the Butch Cassidy script online, the book Adventures in the Screen Trade by William Goldman has the entire script in it I believe.
