I just was wondering if anyone else here in our happy family has had a bad experience with Globat.com's web hosting service.

This is not an attempt to use this board to smear Globat, or leverage my disgruntled customer voice. I am just looking for any other users who might have had similar experience or have a host they are happy with.

I have been a long time Globat customer. I have referred more than a dozen other people to them. Over the past year the service has really started to fall apart.
They started sending manual opt out promotions. You know the kind were if you ignore their email they automatically charge you 40 bucks for the search engine promo pack. The frequency of these promotions has really gone up. I hate having to email them and say NO I DON"T WANT THAT every time they send an email.
The final offense happened yesterday with their new security changes.
They are whitelisting IP addresses for FTP. Basically, you have to email them your IP address and 2-3 hours later it will post on their list and you can access your ftp site. But the problem is I have a dynamic IP address. I have to email them and wait 3 hours every time my IP refreshes.
I think this is finally a deal breaker for me. I need a new webhost. Can anyone recommend a great host or is Globat's practice common with all the other hosts.
