I'm thinking of buying a laptop and would like to run the most important components by you guys. Here is what I think are important to think about:

1. Amount of computer memory: 2gigs RAM
2. Amount of graphic memory: nothing less than 512MB
3. Nothing less than 120gigs hard drive
4. Graphic card: my sights are on the best but what is the best that usually comes with a laptop? Suggestions please.

Now, I will be using this laptop for games as well as some work related features so any advice would be helpful. Thanks all.

I found a laptop with:

20" widescreen display
Intel Core 2 Duo T7300 processor
240 GB Hard Drive
ATI Radeon 2600XT Graphic

Now I do not know the amount of ram the graphic card has, but maybe you guys might know the ATI Radeon 2600XT. Is it any good? What about the specs on the laptop in general? Thanks.

what brand is the one you are looking at? you have to be careful what brand you get - it's not just the stats that count!

HP brand is the specs at the bottom that I posted in my first post. I'm looking for a laptop that can handle many of the top major first person shooters as well as media work. As well as mine other questions that I already stated. I'm not sure how much more clearer I can be . Thank you.
Now the specs at the bottom of my first post is an HP laptop. will it be okay for games as well, according to the specs I listed?

hp and toshiba are both based on the same setup as acer. they are basically the same computers and are very good for the price. you should be safe with either of the three. I have two toshibas and I'm not complaining

I recommend using a Mac for any video/audio production. It's more compatible, it's more reliable, it's more powerful for the money.

MacBookPro

2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
2GB 667 DDR2 SDRAM - 2x1GB
120GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400 rpm
SuperDrive 8x (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
15-inch Widescreen Display
Backlit Keyboard/Mac OS - U.S. English

Final Cut Pro

HP gives you a great bang for your buck, and each HP laptop I've had has been killer, rock-solid, and the screens are gorgeous.

There's nothing "wrong" with the specs you posted, per se, but there are better options. You could go with a faster processor, and I, too, would recommend Nvidia over Radeon for gaming.

That particular graphics card you selected reviews fairly well, but that's in the PCI-E and AGP versions. I didn't see a review for the laptop version.

As for video editing, it's all about processor speed.

Just built one on HP.com. Started with the dv9500t series.

Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 (2.2 GHz)
17" BrightView Widescreen Display (1680 x 1050)
2 GB DDR2 RAM
Dual 120GB 5400 RPM SATA HDD (240GB total; easy to set up a RAID in Windows, which will be good for editing, especially HD)
383MB NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS
DVD+/-R/RW with DL support

(Other odds and ends like Bluetooth, etc.)

$1490.

I think it'll do ya just great for your intended purposes.

Is this a laptop version you built? I did not know you could do that. I thought it was only for desktop computers.
