I've been surviving for 15+ years with a Manfrotto 503HDV head but it's driving me crazy. It seems I can no longer get consistent smooth pans nor smooth slow start/stop for pans at any time. It's time to buy new.
The reason for needing slow start/stop and smooth pans is because I need to following vehicles that move, starting slowing and then building speed, eventually coming to a stop again.
I've been looking at the Sirui SVS75 tripod with the SVH15 fluid head. While I can find lots of videos about the head on YouTube, they really don't talk about starting or stopping pans, and very little about the panning itself. Most of them seem like influencer (read: I got this free) infomercials.
What other heads should I be looking at? I'm using a mix of Sony FX6, often with the 28-135 PZ and Lumix S1ii with various lenses.
The budget won't stretch to Sachtler, Miller etc.....
