need a good non-quicktime compression for broadcast

I am working on a couple segments that will be playing on TV during a local newscast. They want files (as opposed to tapes or DVDs) and they can't handle quicktime. I am at a loss as to what non-qt compression is going to be broadcast quality without going to super-monstrous file sizes. Any advice? Thanks!

ask them for a deliverables spec sheet -- a list of technical specifications that vendors like yourself adhere your deliverables to.

quicktime is a container format, not a codec, so it can have obscenely big file sizes as well.

what you probably want is to encode an h.264 file, which may or may not be qt... don't use compressor if you can help it, there are better solutions.
