Need a good low cost video editor

Ive tried the many free video editors out there, and they all have let me down tremendously (and Im not trying to do anything fancy at all). Can anyone recommend a good video editor which either includes, or allows, standard plugins for things like noise reduction, color correction, etc... for ~$100 or less?

I work in Windows Vista currently (will be updating to 7 or 8 soon) and have a 60D, so it would be great if it could directly work with .mov files, or easily convert them to another standard.

Why not try the Adobe's prescription to the cloud. Lots of people like it. I think it's around $50 a month, all you can eat software!

Have you tried Lightworks yet? Very powerful mature editing system that has gone open source. Good color correction tools and scopes built in. Accepts a range of aftermarket effects plugins. The pro version is $60/yr subscription cost and handles H.264 MOV directly as well as transcoding to more robust formats for FX editing if needed.

It is a professional level tool, so there is a significant learning curve. But the more I use it and learn about it the more I like it. There is a free version download that is fine, but doesn't support codecs that require license fees. The pro version does. I am using the free version for DV editing with few problems on a 4GB ram 1.8 GHz Core2 duo Vista 64bit laptop. You will need more juice than this for H.264 MOV's though. Free version works with AVI's no problem.

Hi hscully, that is a very good deal, but Im not at that level of work where Id need that much of a tool. Id rather pay a one time lower total cost at the expense of having a weaker tool. Or, are there any well acclaimed free tools out there that could fit my needs? I tried Avidemux, VirtualDub, Jashaka, Windows Movie Maker, and one or two others. They all didnt work for various reasons (wouldnt work with .mov or .avi properly, I had to download way too much extra crap to get it to work, or the program crashed repeatedly... etc...).

Oh wow, this looks exactly like what I need! Thank you for the link I will definitely try this out. Can you recommend a good noise reduction plugin for it, or does it have one built in?

Don't know, haven't needed or tried plugins yet. They have a great support forum and the specs list aftermarket software they support.
