Need a decent pair of noise isolating headphones for field audio.

I'm looking for a decent (but not TOO decent) set of headphones for when I'm capturing audio during a shoot using a DAR (or hopefully soon an Zoom).

EVERY pair I've ever tried always has terrible sound leakage (terminology?). From Sennheisers to Dr Dre Beats - haha! Just kidding - Bose, Creative Labs, etc.

I don't really have a price point other than under $100.

Any help/suggestions/links would be the greatest... unless you suck. Then it wouldn't be so great, but still appreciated.

MDR7506 and HD280 are more or less industry standards. I find the HD280 have a little better isolation, but I prefer the feel of the 7506.

Remote audio makes a set of phone for high noise environments using the 7506 drivers, but they're like $300 or so. If the need for isolation outweighs sound quality, there are a few options that I can think up.

First, look into headphones intended for drummers. Vic Firth makes some, as does another company, I think called Extreme Isolation. I picked up a pair of the lower end Extreme ones for a drummer buddy, under $100, very good isolation, and fairly decent sound quality, in my very quick and unscientific testing.

Another option would be to go with a decent in-ear monitor. I've got a pair of Shure in-ears that were right around $100. I mostly use them when I'm mowing the lawn, but I've used them from time to time mixing loud live shows and they sound okay.

On the same exct page with me. I have a pair of Shure In ears as well, model E3. They sound great and are made so that the musicians can hear themselves on stage at a concert rather than have traditional stage monitors. Will block out 99% of the external noise. HD280's are awesome too.

I, too, have switched to in-ears. Shures are a great start. I use M-Audio IE-30s which have replaceable cables, will take custom molds, and have dual drivers in each monitor. A bit over your budget I've had mine for over 3 years and have had no problems and have well over 200 shooting days on them.
