Need 2 dvd's to burn a big movie?

I've got 2 hours 15 minutes of movie I need to get on a dvd.

Is there anyway I can get all of it on 1 dvd?

I wanted to use the VBR 2 pass for a good visual.... BUT....

I don't think a 8.5 GB dvd will hold it all.

Is there a setting that PPRO 1.5 will auto compress the movie into a 8.5 GB dvd? If so, will the picture look like crap?

Am I better off going "2 disk" for the film? (which I don't want to do)

You should be all set. If you compress at around 6.5 bitrate VBR 2 pass, you can fit all that plus audio on a double layer DVD.
