necklace lavs

i notice on reality shows that they are lav-ing people with a necklace. most notably on this season of The Real World where everyone walks around without shirts.. Does anyone know who makes the necklaces and are they just threading through a Cos or countryman through it? or is it a whole rig some audio company makes?

I don't know of any audio company that makes mic's for neckties, more likely the sound crew just coordinated with the wardrobe department ahead of time to make sure the lav could be fit into the tie.

its a necklace, like a black rope like material with a small medallion in the middle

I remember a few years ago reading about a woman that was making those necklaces for reality shows.
I honestly can't remember what site I saw it on, but you might get lucky if you really dig on google.
