Nebula 4200 settings

Hi,

Looking to get some feedback on the Nebula 4200 settings. Ive had a play around with it, watched the settings videos for the 4000 model (can't find one on the 4200), and wondered how similar they are. Has anybody had any success editing the settings in the app? I'm using a A7Rii with various lenses, but not happy with the units response.

Thanks

PID settings? I haven't found anything online specific to 4200. I'd have to imagine the process is the same although the end settings would be different.
There's also nothing on setting up the springs in the handle and that's unique. Nothing to compare it.
There's another thread that Filmpower posts to and I believe people have asked about tutorials but nothing has happened in that regard.

I've sunk a ton of time and have had no luck with the settings. I understand the software is known for being frustrating, but this is beyond. Bought the single-hand model Nebula 4200 (first of all, disappointed in the plastic handle with no mounting holes--had kind of assumed that would be standard at this point, as the 4000 and all other one-handed gimbals have them--but that's a separate issue) am using with an a7s, 10-18mm & 28mm. Roll and yaw are acceptable if imperfect but cannot get the pitch to stop freaking out. Have not successfully used it on a shoot once, and wonder if the unit is defective. Would return it now and get a Pilotfly H2, but have spent so much time trying to get it to work that I'm past the return window.

Filmpower sent an email with updated profiles, have tried all of them as a starting point but still getting nothing that is remotely usable.

Will keep tweaking to try to get it to work, but hopped on here to see if anyone has pointers for profile settings for a setup like the a7s with small lens.

It does work better in inverted mode than in upright mode. Still, nothing like the videos I've seen with people getting usable footage out of it straight from the box.

Just a couple other issues I've had with the Nebula 4200 while I'm here, and since I haven't been able to find info online:

- When I make yaw adjustments at the bottom of the gimbal, in order to get the correct balance I have to move the plate forward so far that the thin cable coming out of the motor becomes pinched by the plate. Not sure if this is normal behavior, but it does not inspire confidence in the longevity of the product.

- Haven't been able to update the firmware, even when connecting via USB. It's possible this is a mac software issue though, and I haven't tried on a Windows computer yet.

- Does not do a good job finding the horizon on its own once it's lost. Though frankly this issue is secondary to the issues I'm having with the pitch motor and functionality in general.

- Having no mounting holes in the handle makes balancing a pain as well. Have been sitting it on the second tripod plate to balance. Will eventually have to rig a custom solution in order to be able to mount a monitor, mount it to a monopod etc.

- Haven't been able to connect it to the android app, though again this has been a backburner issue to the other ones.

On top of all that, it came with a European plug instead of US, so have to use an adapter to charge the battery.

All in all frustrating to not get any good use out of it, even before all the custom mods I'd have to do to make it fully usable.

I've got very similar issues. Using it with a mac, and have tried both A7Rii and Canon 5D m2- various lenses.
I have asked Filmpower for the updated settings yesterday, as usual waiting for their response. I didn't even know there was a usb port until now, as mine was blanked over with plastic. The fine cables are a concern, both the thin one at the base of the yaw and the thicker one on the battery slot. Both have been squashed and crimped to fit on the unit.
I'm not having the issue with the yaw cable though, I'm using a sony 18-200 lens (only set to 18mm), which is longer and probably makes the unit more front heavy and therefore the centre of gravity is more to the rear. You can re-route the cable if you carefully remove the black plastic access port and place it in the 'channel'.
Will spend the day playing more, and post my findings.

cheers

Hi Medabonzo,

Any chance you could forward the settings that Filmpower sent you, I'm not having any luck with them responding as usual:(

thanks

I have and finally received a reply. The reset/calibration and new profiles have made no difference to the function of the unit. The instructions are poorly written and hard to read, I'm asking for a refund on the unit as it doesn't work as described and never has. I'm an experienced gimble user, both MOVI and Ronin. This unit is unusable.

Another day goes by, and no repsonse from the company. I have sent 4 emails now. This should present itself as a HUGE buyer beware. I would avoid this product and Filmpower in general. More updates to follow.

Another update. On the weekend Filmpower offered me a refund when I return the item. Today I sent the item back, forwarded the tracking details and received a swift reply saying they would not refund the money as their Paypal account was frozen. All this after I posted the unit, not before. I now have to submit a claim through Paypal which I have done.
Buyers at NAB please beware it is not worth the hassle dealing with this company. I will continue to update until there is a resolution.

Still silence from FILMPOWER. No communication, assistance or responsibility taken for their product.

After promising a refund, once again they haven't delivered that either. I was told after NAB, but no joy. Filmpower may you respond to this? What promise will you make now?

Sorry for reply late, we are on holiday this weekend. Due to the Paypal Invoice has being temporarily held. So delay such a long time. The payment was returned now. Please check. I'm so sorry to delay for such a long time. Thank you for your support to Filmpower, thank you very much. Many many thanks.
