NEBTEK NEB70HD & NEB70HDS Monitor Questions...

Ok everyone,

Considering how dead everything is in today's economy, I find myself with a lot more time on my hands. Rentals are way up and sales are way down across the board. Ironically production has been almost non-stop for the last 2 months. Unfortunately, since I took a desk job I'm not seeing any of it. With all of this spare time I wanted to start a thread to answer any questions that people may have about the new NEBTEK HD monitors.

What's new? - We just finished working with RED last month to perfect Anamorphic in 4:3 format for an unsquezzed accurate image. Jarred Land calls it "Bad Ass" and says "it's working perfectly".

What cameras are the monitors working with? - The Phantom HD and Dalsa have just been added to the list as our monitor supports the 2k output on both cameras.

Any new mods? - We're still hoping to get the one to one aspect ratio perfected, but general consensus is the monitor has a focusable picture in any format. We did add a lockout feature so that Director's can't blow out your button settings when they "play" with your monitor.

Whatever questions you may have I'm ready to answer. You supply them and I'll answer them as quickly and concisely as I can.

Here's to all of us getting major features in the near future!

Either that or I'm moving to Michigan and going back to Video Assist.
Pirates 4 in Michigan... who knew?

All the Best!

Waveform and colored peaking would be my only suggestions.

Otherwise, it's my go to monitor for out on the field stuff. It's incredibly bright. Also, the graphics bar goes right across the plug/contrast bars from my color bars.

Big fan of this monitor, close to perfect for me.

As a former Wolverine, do I get a Michigan discount?

Just read that Michigan is scheduled for 50 features this year.

With a 40% tax incentive how could they not. Sure better than the 15% we have here in Utah with a cap of $500k - I'm with Rob - gotta go elsewhere if you want good steady film work.

Thanks for the input Tim!

I've spoken to Gaylen about adding those features on our next product run, but he is leery of the increased expense. I'm sure as the technology becomes more prevalent the prices will drop. Right now we're looking at framelines, waveform and vectorscope for our next gen unit, but that's about a year from now.

50 features on deck, and I just heard from a VTR friend up there that it was 44 on Thursday. 6 more features added this weekend... it really makes you think. I heard that it was 40% on gear and 50% with local labor. How are any of us supposed to compete with that.

I heard it took a special dispensation from the Governor (thank you Utah Film Commission) to keep High School Musical 3 in state. They wanted to shoot in New Mexico because of the incentives.

Rob;
I have a question. I am looking to purchase an on camera/small form monitor such as this. I am already sold on the Neb based on not only features but I see that you actually listen (and implement) suggestions made by customers!! That's huge as it helps from making the monitor obsolete.

My question is this. As I research monitors, i noticed that according to the manual the Marshall 7" is not compatible with 720/24P or 720/23.98P. I assume this means that it cannot propery process of display this format. Since this is a format that we shoot in most of the time, I am curious as to whether or not the NEB70HD also has this issue. (I'm shootig with an HVX200

Also is the enclosure metal or plastic.

Thanks..
