Hi all,

Just thought I'd give a heads up on this. I've been asking on other threads for awhile for confirmation on the rumor that the Nebtek HD monitor, NEB70HD will be getting a firmware upgrade that will enable it to use a Pixel-for-Pixel zoom feature. Well, I was able to speak to Rob Dupree who has been swamped with post NAB business, and he's confirmed it. Check out what he had to say:

The increase in brightness is the only improvement over your unit, but if you want to send your unit in when you have some down time... we have a firmware upgrade for Pixel to Pixel mode and other tidbits. You pay the shipping we do the upgrade for free.

All the Best,

Rob

I'm really stoked about this and will be sending my unit in this week. I think this really closes the gap between the much compared to BTLH80W, which also sports this feature. I actually had a chance to shoot alongside a BTLH80W and I honestly think the NEB70HD wins in daylight viewability (and i have the 500nit ver.1). Focus in red is cool, but the NEB70HD has focus in white in 3 levels. So the only thing the panny has over the nebtek in my mind is the waveform. However, I'm planning on getting a HPX170 so that will be moot point by years end.

Anyways, just thought I'd send word out to you existing NEB70HD owners.

***EDIT*** Oh, and I have no idea what "other tidbits" he is referring to. I'll report back with all I find when I get my unit returned/upgraded.

Instructions on sending for upgrade:

Hi Mike,

Please mark the unit to my attention, and include a note asking for the latest firmware upgrade... I'll take it from there.

Please feel free to post on DVXusers. I have been so busy over here that I do not get a chance to post anymore unless someone e-mails me directly for a reply to a post. I am hoping that I will have more time to be available to the User's Groups in the coming months, but right now I am swamped with all of the post NAB business.

All the Best, and Thanks!
Rob
