Nba Refs

The NBA has long-since claimed its non-bias in calling games. But I would LOVE to know the ratio of calls going in the home team's favor to calls going to the visiting team. I would bet that over the course of the season there's a HUGE disparity. So what does that mean? The away team myteriously just becomes sloppier all of a sudden?

NBA officiating is a joke.

i sometimes wonder if the NBA pays the refs to officiate the game a certain way,
like, "our ratings will be better if you call the game this way, so that way this team will win and the series will have more drama, and we'll have a better chance of making more money"

seems silly, but i can't help but wonder sometimes.

it will be fun to watch the laker game tomorrow and see if the officials favor the home team.

Interesting this is coming up ... (In reference to another thread)

I find NBA refs to be the worst refs in sports and they are definately a fan of the superstar treatment. Whether it be Shaq or Kobe or Jordan or Bird; I've seen games called everyway ...

I can't blame entire games on officiating (even though I have seen some horrendous calls in my time) but I can blame certain players point totals (usually in lee of the line) rising because of preferentail calls. I have seen games swing on calls.

You think the Rookie is going to get the same call as Timmy D ? I hate that it is called this way. In my book, if it is a foul, it is a foul. Whether it be Iverson or the 10 Day Contract Player.

The worst offender is NBA history ? Shaq.

i think the problem is that, technically, a foul can be called on every single possession. that leaves it up to the refs to choose which fouls they want to call. They definitely need to figure it out because basketball is by far the most influenced by officiating sport.

and don't think that refs aren't human. i remember how back in the day word got out that one of the top refs bragged all the time that he could call Jordan whenever he wanted. Those guys like the attention they get from superstars. Hence: Superstar Treatment.

If they did away with the touch fouls, things would be far better and easier to police. The sport has become soft. Allow the guys to play and it'll be better for everyone involved.

I will agree at times some calls could be deemed "questionable" but keep in mind that these guys are human too.
This is the NBA playoffs and the level of play including officiating has been raised considerably.

Refs like Joey Crawford, Dick Bavetta, Bennett Salvadore, Steve Jaffe who have been in the league for over 20 years are the NBA's best
and have the respect of the leagues players. They aren't perfect but they are fair or at least try to be.

I love this game, especially this time of year and I get frustrated will certain calls like everyone else. But man, if you're an NBA fan, this is what we wait for all season long.

You gotta love all the emotion and you know tonight's game between L.A. and Phoenix is gonna be something else.
