It's that time of year, where I humbly yet obnoxiously profess my love for the Miami Heat!!! :Drogar-Love(DBG):

GO HEAT!!! :violent5:

And also welcome 'users everywhere to stand up and make some noise for their team... :lipsrseal

I didn't get around to this for the first round, but now in Round Two, it gets interesting!

Terry, et al, let's get it on!!! :)

(I'd better watch out or I'll get called for flagrant use of emoticons...)

Thunder stunk it up tonight while the Clippers played great.

At least I'm getting some work out of the deal with TNT. Hope the Thunder can keep me employed a while longer this season.

If the Wiz Kids make it past the Pacers and into the third round I'm buying stock in ice skates, because hell will have frozen over.

Alright, Heat by 21 after 8 days off, four 3's by Ray Allen- not bad a bad way to start Round Two.
Where are the Brooklynites around here??? :undecided

Congrats to KD on his MVP. And LeBron being the youngest player to reach 4000 points.
My cable TV is on the fritz, so I watched the TNT quad split online- what a headache, felt like I should've been TD'ing...
Hope the Heat meets the Thunder in the Finals, and you keep getting the days, Terry!

If Hibbert continues with zero points and zero rebounds, you might want to go skate shopping, William... :2vrolijk_08:

^ What a heartfelt tearjerker (when he wasn't saying "I didn't know who you were" to his new teammates :)).

And calling his mom "the real MVP"- nice...

If I was picking one team, it would be the Spurs. That
said this has been a pretty unpredictable playoffs. Who
knows? Pacers haven't impressed me. Heat have been
good, but I just feel this is the year for San Antonio.
I will almost be surprised if the wizards don't beat the
Pacers. Thunder are struggling, but I wouldn't count them.
out yet. By the way, after last night, KD is officially one of
my favorite players. Everyone says 'thanks to my teammates'.
He went beyond that and individually thanked each one
with a personal story about that teammate....nice.
What a class act of a guy. I hope he gets a championship.

Great report from Alaska, Dude! Spurs do have me worried...

Shame there's no NBA Alaska Malamutes!

Your Heat look pretty good too......one of those veteran teams that kind of coasts
during the regular season but turns it on once the real season (playoffs) starts.
They will be tough for anyone to beat four times. It's hard though cause they have
played more games than anyone the last few years and that can cause injuries
and guys just being banged up and not at 100%.....which is one reason it gets harder
and harder to keep winning titles year after year.

Alaska actually has a LOT of very good basketball players....something to do with
lots of crappy outdoor weather :). But no big cities and exposure for players unless
they have parents who can afford for them to travel with an AAU type team out of
state. My brother actually was an all American in college for a NAIA team and won
most valuable player for the west region. He also played pro ball in Argentina (in the league
Ginobili, Nocioni, Delfino, Prigioni, Splitter....all those NBA players from Argentina played
in before the NBA came calling) and England.

Carlos Boozer grew up in the town I live in, Trajun Langdon from Anchorage played a few years for
the Cavs before going to CSKA Moscow and winning multiple Euroleague championships....
even beating NBA teams in exhibition games. Mario Chalmers grew up in Anchorage.
Carl Arts, and Kyle Bailey both played pro ball a couple years ago, I think Bailey is
coaching at Santa Clara now (I played against him when I was playing at University of
Alaska and he was in high school...he used to come play with college guys when he was 15.)
There are a ton more I'm forgetting, one guy on the Celtics D league team (he had one
call up to the NBA this year I think) is from a little village in Alaska.....really not to bad
when you consider there are less people in the whole state of Alaska than are in many cities.

Just for fun you can look up YouTube videos of the Alaska Quake, a semipro team in the
ABA from a year or so ago. Junior, Alex, Carl, Lonnie, and Chris were all Alaska kids
who were very good college players. They were all on the Quake and that team was
tearing up the teams from Seattle, Sacramento and so on. Too bad the team folded,
they would have won the league championship.

I didn't know Boozer was from AK. I've heard the stories of Chalmers practically living in the gym all winter. I guess the weather could be conducive to honing in on your game skills.
Shame you guys can't get a semi-pro league or something going... I imagine it would have small but very enthusiastic crowds.

Cool about your brother and yeah, Argentina is incredible. The NBA has been brilliant in marketing the game globally, including finding the best international players.

The Heat and especially Wade have been resting the last half of the season, and even during the first round vs Charlotte.
If they're clicking on all cylinders (especially when Bosh plays well), it's amazing to see. Ray Allen and James Jones, too. Killer threes off the bench.

I'm heading to tonight's game- hope Kidd and the Nets don't find an effective adjustment.

Warming my voice up, time for my obligatory GO HEAT!!! :violent5:

:Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

Tough, tight game by the Nets (I can barely speak), but the Heat pulled ahead in the end. But they say playoff victories don't count til a win on the road.
Next stop, Brooklyn- and it's gonna be tough there...

Since the Mavs lost, i'm rooting for Brooklyn. That decision is currently made all the easier by the fact that the Heat are by far my least favorite team in professional sports (though I do love Chris Bosh). Hoping that Nets can get the W tonight to actually make it a series. If the Nets lose the series, i'll be pulling for the Spurs.

Yessss... Heat beat the Pacers in 6 and are going to The Finals!!! :2vrolijk_08:
The first team to appear in four consecutive NBA Finals since the Boston Celtics did it from 1984 to 1987, looking for the 3-peat.

Lance Stephenson will have to blow in someone's ear other than LeBron's...

So will it be the Heat against the youth of the Thunder, or the experience of the Spurs???

GO HEAT!!! :violent5:

I'm guessing Spurs vs. Miami which was my preseason
prediction, much as I love KD, I see the Spurs winning in 7.
And with apologies to you, I predict the Spurs beat Miami this
time, in a 7 game classic. Of course I've been wrong
plenty of times and Miami is really good so who knows?
Should be fun though.
