Nazis at the Center of the Earth- trailer for latest Asylum ripoff

Anyone else ever started watching one of these Asylum movies, only to realize it wasn't what you had hoped to see?

This is the one occasion when the movie that Asylum produces might actually be better than what they are ripping-off....

I'm not sure it's ripping off any specific movie, though you could make arguments for Journey to the Center of the Earth, Iron Sky, and Nazi Zombies.

I guess that depends where you are; I saw it in a small town in Northern Finland. It was all over the place there; the cinema was completely decked out in Iron Sky paraphernalia. Pretty big in Germany too, or so I am led to believe.

I guess Asylum is aiming for a niche market?

Iron Sky probably doesnt have the marketing budget of many US films - Aussie produced, that = bug budget difference.

Isn't this the Asylum rip-off of that Journey to the Center of the Earth part II? You know, the one with The Rock in it?

What exactly is Asylum trying to build it's fan base on? Is it B-movie fans? Or are they hoping to confuse people with the title, so people buy/rent their film instead of the big Hollywood film? I've seen this happen at least once with Battle Los Angeles (asylum's is Battle of Los Angeles). Look at the line up of their films:

American Battleship
Abraham Lincoln vs Zombies
Death Racers
Grimm's Snow White
(the list goes on)

And if it's not a rip-off, it's some sex like film. I'm no fan of hollywood, but what they're doing is just low... Funny, but low...

I have often thought about this. The same as other B movie companies like Sy-fy (or whatever its called) that make all the giant Piranha and mutated shark movies. The strange thing is that these movies all must cost reasonable sums of money to make. I guess they know what they're doing because they seem to keep having the funds to make more, so they have found some sort of niche.

A lot of these movies are so bad that you feel that everyone involved is in on the joke, because no one could take it seriously when they are making them. A lot of them are enjoyable in the same way that 'The Room' or 'Birdemic' are enjoyable.

IronSky feels like it has more heart put into it from director Timo Vuorensola & the entire Production crew. Been following the filmmakers journey on the making for at least two years. Sad truth is IronSky has to fight an uphill battle to get to the USA for distribution, while all along crappy movies get a red carpet laid out. Such as life, it's not fair, nor perfect.

I am pretty sure that Asylum just wants to get a movie out the door as soon as possible hoping that somebody will see their DVD at Walmart and buy it out of curiosity, because of the connection to whatever big-budget movie they are ripping off.

The concept of what they are doing is kind of funny, but sadly their movies are not funny, not even in a tongue-in-cheek, cheesy, B-movie sort of way.

Their movies are just low-budget and awful.

In LA, if you came here from 2008-now, and you want to be a camera department person, ala, AC, DP, etc.... working on an Asylum film is like a rite of passage. It's the new Roger Corman studios, but even worse.

At one point and time, every 20-25 yearold fresh-faced camera assistant will find his way onto one of these productions. If he's lucky, one will be the most. :)
