native 16:9 & letterbox in same timeline

For a documentary project we have native 16:9 footage shot on the XL2. Also we would like to use material shot on a pd150 in letterbox mode. Importing the xl2 material in a fcp anamorphic project isn't a problem of course, but how do we have to handle the material which is letterboxed in this project?
Is there for instance a plug-in which stretches the letterboxed material? So not importing it anamorphic but as normal footage, but later applying a stretch'filter to this 'wrong' source material in an anamorphic timeline ?
In the end everything will be dumped on a digibeta tape (as a native 16:9 project) for exposure on television. Anyone with tips or tricks?

In the motion tab of the letterboxed clip select a scale of 133% and an aspect ratio of 33.33 (under "distort"). If you don't want to change these settings for every clip simply throw all the letterbox clips into a regular sequence, nest it into an anamorphic one, apply the resize and export it as anamorphic. Re-import and it'll be just like the XL2 clips.

I think I have the reverse issue.

Most of the video we have was shot NTSC anamorphic. I want it to display letterboxed on a standard definition NTSC screen.

We also have a few shots that were in SD to begin with that we'd like to have match the letterboxed look of the anamorphic shots.

How can I make this all work within the same FCP timeline?

Thank you!

If you throw a anamorphic clip into a 4:3 timeline FCP will automatically distort it to -33.33 aspect ratio so it'll be letterboxed. For the 4:3 clips use the widescreen filter (in matte) at 1.78:1.
