National Treasure Sequal

Director Jon Turteltaub tells the LA Daily News that the sequel to Disney's 2004 Nicolas Cage hit, National Treasure, will start filming the first of the year.

"We are just about to start preproduction," says Turteltaub. "We'll have Nic, Justin Bartha, Diane Kruger, Jon Voight and Harvey Keitel... Everyone's back except anyone who's in jail or died."

He adds that the sequel will take our intrepid adventurers to "exciting destinations within America as well as around the world. As we were shooting the first one, it kept changing, so I'm scared to commit to anything, but I wouldn't be surprised if Mount Rushmore made an appearance."

Like the first film, Turteltaub co-produces with Jerry Bruckheimer.

Agreed, the first film was certainly better summer faire than what we've had to digest this time around.

I loved the characters in the first film - hmm... characters with a true inner conflict and back-story! Imagine that.

The whole problem with the first one, though, was that at the end, IT WAS JUST A BIG TREASURE. What SHOULD have happened, is they should have learned that the Declaration of Independence WAS the treasure left to us by the founding fathers. That's what the clues should have added up to. I kept waiting...waiting...but then it was just a bunch of gold and ****....sigh.

well from reading that interview looks like sean bean will not be in it. But I want him to. He's a great actor and he should come back to the film. Maybe like some how break out of jail.

the first one was mildly watchable .... not really waiting for more

I concur, kind of disappointing, Nick didn't really do it for me...Sean Bean and Nick's little sidekick buddy were good though.

Wow... I totally dug it. The writing was witty and Nick Cage was fantastic in the role of himself... haha.

I really liked it, but it doesn't need -- and shouldn't have -- a sequel. It was a complete story. Trying to coax another one out of the characters will be cheap.

Agreed. Just have one and end it.

I do love Cage, however...

Indy IV is more of a waste of time, than NT2.
I can't remember if it was lucas or spielburg who wanted to do another one. And will Sean Connery make it... he's getting to old.

Old? Christopher Lee was fighting Yoda in Star Wars Episode 2 and had his little bit in Episode 3 and he was Saruman in the Lord of the Rings movies. His age? He's in his 80's.

Is Sean Connery too old? No, he's in his mid 70's.

hey sorry ... i was making a joke oh well ... moving on

ok well if anyone saw the alternate ending on NT2 there is one that leaves you with a sequal but Jon Turteltaub said he didn't want that ending because he didn't want a sequal but now he's doing one.. he changed his mind i guess.
