National shortage of MQ tapes?

After farting around for a couple of weeks with my tape supplier, trying to get full-size Panasonic MQ cassettes and getting PQ's instead, I ask my supplier what's going on. He claims there's a shortage of MQ tapes (both mini and full-size) going on right now. When asked why he says he doesn't know, "materials maybe?"  

Huh? Has anyone else heard such nonsense?

why don't you try other places..
I've had no problem ordering tapes from:

BH

in the past few weeks

tapestockonline.com has great prices too,but a while back they said they were having a hard time geting the shipment in.

Well, I would use another but I've had an open account with my current supplier for years with no problem - and the prices are decent. Right now I'd like to know if there is any validaty to these claims or if they're just blowing smoke.

Hey Preston, we have a couple thousand right now. ;D At the current rate, we won't have them much longer, though. I perosnally sold 375 yesterday to 3 separate customers.
