National Do Not Call - Cell Phones

Re: National Do Not Call - Cell Phones
Starting on January 1, 2005 all Cell Phone Numbers will be made public to Telemarketers.

You can place your cell phone number along with your home phone number if you haven't already done so on the National Do Not Call list.

According to the National Do Not Call List, you have until Dec. 15th 2004 to get on the national "Do not call list" for cell phones. They said that you need to call 1-888-382-1222 from the cell phone that you wish to have put on the "do not call list" to be put on the list. They also said you can do it online at http://www.donotcall.gov/

Hope this helps.
Where did you hear about this?

Re: National Do Not Call - Cell Phones

this is a very widely spread form email propagating in the wild.

I can't say anything as to the truth of the information contained.

Re: National Do Not Call - Cell Phones

...so your saying that I SHOULDN'T have given them a copy of my birth certificate, my social security number and my current address?

Crap.

Re: National Do Not Call - Cell Phones

yeah im not sure theres any truth to that at all , but as far as registerig on the site..the national do not call registry is very real and legit. their website listed above is safe and easy to use and is reffered to by many federal and state agencies. Ive been registered since its inception, and no longer recieve telemarketing calls. unfortunately it cant stop non profit surveys and other things that are not slaes oriented, but ive only gotten about 3 of those calls in the last couple years. some odd months ago they were actually having discussions on whether or not cell phones would be open to telemarketers. I do not know what they eventually decided, but i have registered my families cell numbers with the site anyway.. it took all of 30 seconds so i figured better safe than sorry. anyway ..just in case anyone was confused about all this or didnt read the whole other link above. the list and site are legit, and if your sick of telemarketers than you should sign up. I cant imagine not being on the list now that ive been on it so long.

Re: National Do Not Call - Cell Phones

I'm on the list and love it. One time, I had a telemarketer from a bank start swearing at me after I asked her name and contact number and then informed her that I was going to report the company. Someone forgot to check the scrubbed list . . .

Re: National Do Not Call - Cell Phones

checked out

www.snopes.com

they said yes it true they're putting phone books together.  But there is no deadline.

But the idea of the tele-marketers getting these lists seems like something they'd do.

Re: National Do Not Call - Cell Phones
