Narrowing it down - Please help!

Can anyone tell me some pros and cons on the following 35mm Adapters? I am looking at two price ranges, $800 mark and the $500 mark. Here is what I have came up with some far.

Go35Pro $735 (Canon FD mount) vs Letus35 Flip Enhanced $700

or

Letus35A $520 vs Indie35 $510 (I think... There site is a little vague on info)

I am also looking to see if there is any other options in these ranges that I should look at.

Thanks,

Bryan

ps. Also, check out my question about using 35mm Adapters in filming wildlife or hunters. I am new to filming hunters and wondering my options on capturing the wildlife as they are coming into our shooting range. Thanks!

The Letus35 Flip Enhanced flips the image for you, no other adapter does. That alone puts it in a class all by itself. The fact that it's half the price of many of the other adapters is just a bonus.

Thanks Barry,

Another question I have is amount the Canon FD mount. What kind of lens will that allow me to use? Any Canon lens?

I have access to these Canon lens (and maybe more)... Would they work?

- Canon Telephoto EF 200mm f/2.8L II USM Autofocus Lens USA
- Canon Telephoto EF 85mm f/1.8 USM Autofocus Lens USA
- Canon Zoom Super Wide Angle EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 USM
- Canon Zoom Wide Angle 35-80mm f/4-5.6

I think Barry's thinking of the Letus35 Flip, the Letus35a doesn't flip the image. Also, the Canon FD mount is for Canon lenses made prior to the early 1990's. All of the lenses you list seem like they would need an EOS style mount and by the looks of their site, Letus does not appear to make an EOS mount for the Letus35a (bummer for me because I aready own one and can't use any of my newer lenses). It would also appear that Go35 doesn't have an EOS mount either. So, I guess that leaves the indie35, right?

On a side note, the Letus35a I bought is a great deal for the price but it isn't by any means perfect optically. I recommend finding as much footage shot with each of these adaptors before making a purchase, they all vary. Be prepared for things in this price range to be "nice" to "good enough", meaning that if you're picky about your optics, spring the extra $500 over your top end for a better adaptor, IMHO.

The initial post first asked about the Letus Flip, so I went from there, but I've edited my post to make it clear that yes, I'm referencing the Letus35 Flip Enhanced.

Finnian,

Thanks for the information about the Canon mounts. What about the Nikon F mounts? Are they also older lens too? I have to be careful with the amount that I spend for the adapter since I'll need to buy the lens too.

At least on the Letus, the F mount will work with any and all Nikon lenses. The only difference between old and new Nikon lenses is AI and Non-AI lenses but this only affects Nikon camera bodies, not 35 adaptors as far as I can tell.

The biggest drawback the Letus Nikon mount has is that the lenses don't "lock" into place so if you have a lens with a stiff focus ring, it may work itself free while pulling focus. Not a deal breaker, but something to be aware of if using a follow focus where your hand wouldn't be on the lens if it came loose.

That is interesting to know about the locking of the lens. Since the Canon FD mount does work with the EOS I am lending more towards the Go35Pro with the Nikon mount.

Also, I guess another one to look at is the M2 Indie Bundle for Nikon Lenses from Redrock Micro. It is on sale for $895.50. Even thought it is $200 more than the Go35Pro. Isn't that the problem, there is always one more... that is just a little more... then you are out of your budget.

An f4-5.6 zoom is going to be nearly useless in any indoors situation. If you only want to use it outdoors it may have some value, but indoors you're going to be dealing with extreme massive light loss. Even that 50mm 2.8 is going to be very slow. You should be looking for 1.4 or faster if at all possible.
