Nanlux Evoke 2400B LED Bi-color Spot Light

So where the rental house get it serviced?

clearly it will be $4k which to me is not a fire and forget item unlike a $70 amazon panel

It's going to be a lot more than 4k,, The Nanlux 1200b is going for about 4k .. I'm guessing at least 7k for this one.

Which is still kind of crazy, when you look at traditional HMI's. Presuming a reasonably long service life and the ability to get it serviced if something would happen, $7K is pretty cheap for that type of firepower. My 800 HMI's have fluctuated in price anywhere from $8K to $10K over the last 15-18 years.

And now, at least here in the US, we're back into the "specialized" realm, because you can't plug a 2400 watt fixture into a normal household outlet.

I meant a minimum of $4k, we dont know what price stunts this lot will throw.

But you have not touched my point.

Do Nanlight, Nanlux, have any form of customer support that would align with 'mission critical' multi $k equipment?

Personally Im backing apture/amaran bcause I 'feel' that they might build some customer support.

From Nanlux Americas site "To further our commitment to our end users, we have added service and repair partnerships with lighting repair experts throughout the United States in the event of any warranty claims to minimize down time." You can contact them at info@nanluxamericas.com to find out the nearest repair center.

Well, that's kind of inevitable if you really want to pump the lumens, isn't it. And I'd imagine this isn't going in your average lighting cameraman's interview kit.

I think it would be cool if you could plug into multiple outlets and combine the power of 2 circuits via some regulating ballast. I don't know enough about electric to know why that's not feasible but i assume it's not.

What do people think is the best bicolor COB or panel that's over 600w draw, in terms of output and color quality? Mainly for a soft interview key. I don't really feel like I need it to be RGB, though that's an option. I find it difficult to compare manufacturer output specs or at least difficult to trust them. But I'd like to maximize bang for the buck and also get good skin tones.

What do you guys think? What's the best-in-class output king, cross-referenced by value and color quality?

Personally I think they are all the same. (maybe even the same factory)

But apture/amaran is getting a market hold and therefore..

if is more likely to have decent post servicing
it is more likely a client heard of them
it might rent
less likely to go bust
all gaffers know sidus link

sidus link ap.. fast makes you never want to walk to a fixture again to change its intensity

sky panels are now hafl price.. this just shows th power of the eastern invasion.

as it happens this nan looked odd on a recent shoot, its probably an old model but I feel the 3 or so amarans where white..

The Prolycht 675fs has the best color(other than an Orbiter) fpr a RGBACL unit.. The fan noise is pretty low. The beam spread is 80 degrees so you'll need inner baffle from large softboxes. I use it with the Dopchoice 5 foot rabbit rounder(with the 3d baffle), It creates the soft even light, but the baffle does kill a fair bit of the output. You would get more output with an Aputure p600c with a 5 foot Octa, but it's much more hassle to put together. The Evoke 1200b has really good color but has a fair bit of fan noise for interviews.

I believe some of Moles big LED’s can be plugged into two separate circuits. Saw it mentioned in the comments section of the NewsShooter article on the Nanlux.

My current powerful/big go-to keys are Aputure 600d’s and Prolycht 675’s. When less power is needed, my go-to’s are 1x1 Gemini’s and Prolycht 300’s. We were doing a live outdoor show from a sporting event a few weeks ago and this particular day we were lighting with 2x 600d’s/fresnel’s and it got rainy and super-cloudy. We ended up dimming down to about 1.5%-2%.

Light quality/skin tones go to Prolycht, followed very closely by the Gemini’s.
