Naming clips

How do I name individual clips without changing the name of the entire clip in the timeline?

I'm picking out my best takes and putting them into my project bin, but when i try to rename the individual clip, the master clip in the timeline changes too...Thanks.
 
You could add a comment in the Log Notes or Comments field. Or color code your best takes. But if you change the name of the clip in the Browser the timeline will reflect those changes.

Hmm...I just figured out that if you right click on the clip in the timeline, you can click "Make Independent Clip" then drag it to the bin and rename it, and it won't affect the other clips.

This program is very similar to, but also different than Premiere...
 
You can make sub-clips and rename them and it won't effect the master clip. It sounds like sub-clipping is what you are trying to accomplish.
