Oh yeah, I always think of Hal Roach in association with Hal Roach Studios, and saw him as the producer/mogul. I think that he was probably the creative force behind the "Little Rascals" for sure and that directors were not given as much credence then as we do now.

Yes, he has acted in a several films. ... I don't think that one is fair... It is the great jazz saxophonist Dexter Gordon in "Round Midnight". He was nominated for an Oscar in the role.
