Name the "Krank" Challenge

Chris Beller

Kessler Crane
Many of you have already seen the demo for our new Kessler “Krank” slider / mini-dolly prototype on our YouTube page or in our thread in the forums here. If you have not seen it, you can check it out here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-QCZd__du-0

While the name “Krank” does fit the product, it doesn’t immediately tell you “what” the product is or does. Because of this, we thought it might be fun to have a little challenge, and let you tell us what a better name for the “Krank” would be.

So here’s the deal. The person that comes up with the product name that we feel best describes the Kessler “Krank” will receive one of the first production models FREE.

To view the “fine print” and submit your official entry, visit the Name the “Krank” Challenge page on our website:

http://namethekrank.kesslercrane.com

Submissions will be accepted through Friday, March 13th, 2009.

We hope everyone has fun with this little challenge, and we look forward to seeing your submissions.

Looks like a great little piece of gear, kudos to the Kessler crew! I love fun contests like these, I hope other sponsors embrace the trend Cinevate and Kessler started for new products :-)

Glad to see everyone is having fun with this. It's been a lot of fun reading through the submissions we have been receiving.

We are accepting submissions through next Friday (3/13), so I would expect an announcement the following week. Thanks.

Well, since it is a Slider Track with a crANK, I think it only makes sense to call it the "Stank" :D

Chris. I just want you to know that "Krank" in German language means "sick".

I would go for something like "Slide-o-Mat"

Umm... sounds cool, consider that as my contest enty.

Frank

Thanks for the heads up, Frank.

Thanks to everyone for all of your entries, the response was great. I hope you all had fun with this little challenge, because we sure did reading them as they came in.

We are now going to review and discuss all the entries and decide on the winner. We should have an announcement made by the end of next week.

Thanks again everyone!

Yes, you have to be careful about names. I told Luis several times that Carrion, as in the Carrion monitor is English for "putrefying, decaying meat" Not a great name for a monitor. So I would definitely listen to Frank unless you aren't planning on selling to the German market.

Dan

Sorry, was a crazy week, so going through the entries was delayed a bit. I have been wrapping everything up today. Need to finalize a couple details with Eric, then I will be posting the winner (later tonight or tomorrow).

Well, that's true. But not sure of the sick of the U.S. is the same as the Sick of Germany. Frank? Do you guys use the term, "sick" over there when someone is decribing something enthusiastically as in, "Faith's Rod, that car is sick!"?

I just heard a girl call not washing your hair every day, "heinous", which cracks me up as a paragon of overstatement.

Dan

Yes Dan, we use the german version of "sick" also with two meanings - extremely good and ill.
Thou I would not use it as a product name.

That happens pretty often with any language.
Like "badass" doesn´t mean a bad arse at all, or cocksucker is considered - for some strange reason - as a bad man, not a good woman.
