So what's with everyone changing their user names? Seems to be the new "thing" to do.

Hmmm, so my MySpace is just "Norm Sanders" (www.myspace.com/normsanders) , but on here it's Envision ...

Envision's always had a ring to it, and it's half the name of my company, but then no one knows my real name outside of that, or so it seems.

What to do, what to do.
 
I like Envision too... but having your real name makes it more personal in a way... at least that's what I thought...
 
Eh, I've considered a name change (seeing as how no one can pronounce my DVX name, and if I ever met any of you in person I'd be like I'm ... er ... k-r-e-s-t-o-f-r-e). But I decided it didn't really matter that much to me. :)
 
A bunch of us NYers did it cause we were meeting each other in person and it just it easier to meet someone and not have to go through my name on the board is XYZFilmmaker1975, you know the guy who posts with a pic of ______ (Christopher Walken, Jack Nicholson, A Pic of the moon with a face in it, a colorful puffin, Will Ferrell with a cowbell, etc.....)

Instead I just say my name is Alex DePew. And when they come back to the virtual world they know my name.

It is really out of convenience and a brazen I don't care who knows my real name. Which I honestly had to think about for a little bit. Cause with this new fangled thing called Google, any potential employer or potential girlfriend can learn a lot about you. So it's best to keep that in mind when posting under your real name.

It is hard some times at DVXuser envents I go around intraducing myself as Don woods and then IMG So it is kind of hard and most people don't make the connection till I show them my card with the logo on it. But I like the names on here. I feel like I know you guys

I think the other moderators might have that power as well. We ordinary folks can't do it.:)
 
Yeah, I am called Zack Attack (after Zack Morris's band in saved by the bell) but my real name is Tim Miller, but everyone calls me zack without fail, even if I PM them and sign it Tim. Tim Miller, coincidently enough, is a influential gay performer in L.A., not that there is anything wrong with that, but its funny none-the-less when you type Tim Miller into a google search.
 
Oh and another thing...because my name is fairly 'plain' I have always wanted a nickname. Nope never happened, always been som manipulation of my name for example: Timbo, Timmy (thanks south park), Tiny Tim, Timchi (I don't know), Tim Tim, Timmer, and the best Mim Tiller - swap those letters baby! I even got to the point where I tried instituting my own nickname, sad I know, and of course it didn't stick.

I had a rough childhood.
 
I hear you Zach (yeah, that was on purpose!) ...

I HATED the name Norm growing up ... always wanted what everyone else had like Mike, David, etc. Now I dig it, but not then.

So it looks pretty split down the center of people wanting to change their name or leave it.

I LIKE Envision, as said before ... but wonder if it'd be better to just switch to plain ol' Norm Sanders ... since I don't have that potential girl friend issue to worry about like Alex mentioned. :)
 
NOOO, then it would seem like i'm arguing with an actual human!!! Well ... at least trying to argue...
 
its "professional" sounding. I had it changed when i realised i could make money doing this whole DP thing for a living.....



(professional says the guy with, "Not a moon but a space station" as his location)
 
I could of used my name but that was Bla , so being an ARIEL motorcycle nut ( I own 3 of them ) I just went with ARIELMAN .

If I would have had any clue how much time I was going to spend here, I would have used my real name. I hate to asked to have it switched now... don't want to seem like I am just trying to be one of the cool kids.

Exactly! I'd cause every thread I posted in to be shifted way right. It would piss people off. :beer:
