Nacho Libre

I really want to like this movie, but I have a feeling it's going to end up hitting a flat note.

Black's awesome.

By the way, when in the hell is that Tenacious D movie coming out?

I eagerly await the many adventures of Jables and Cage.

im not kidding you guys, the latest trailer for nacho opened up before MI3 and i was pissing myself laughing at the back of the room watching it, i'm SOOOO excited to see this movie, it looks totally hilarious

If it's successful at what it seems like it's trying to do, it is going to combine the quirky world of Napoleon Dynamite with a more orientated story, better dialogue, and Black and Mike White's skills found in School of Rock along with tights and luchas.

If it succeeds, I think it'll be a hell of a family movie

The trailer left me unsure as to whether or not this movie will be hilarious or only somewhat funny. But with Jack Black I'm guessing closer to the former. I thought School of Rock was way hardcore.

Looks like it will either be VERY, VERY stupid or VERY funny.

I'm thinking it will be stupid, but we'll see.

anyone remember shallow hal? not so funny because jack was doing a part instead of being himself. old school was written by a friend of his for jack to be jack. funny movie. i hope they did the same for nacho libre, otherwise it will be as flat as the trailer.

This movie looks like it's trying waaaaaaaaaay too hard.
i felt the same way about Napoleon Dynamite. my girlfriend originally saw a four hour cut of nacho libre at work that went off on some interesting tangents. but the crowd friendly 90 minute version that will be released in theaters was much less satisfying in her opinion.

i like Jack Black. he's funny. School of Rock was great, I liked parts of Orange County, Shallow Hal, and really enjoyed him in High Fidelity. I actually liked him in King Kong too. Between this and his Tenacious D movie coming out I'm really excited.

I like Black as well ... but this doesn't look like vintage Black. Nor does it feel like the quarkiness of Napoleon. Considering we usually see almost all of the funny moments for a movie like this in the trailers ... I won't be anywhere near a theatre to see this. The trailers barely make me grin.

Holy Hell!

Now I'm sure this is going to suck. This film is going to be cut to sh!t. I just don't see how one can 'trim' 2 1/2 hours out of a film down to 90 min and still retain even remotely what the filmmaker's original vision was.

I believe to best illustrate my point is a smiley. One is the studio and the other is the film in question. Guess which one is which?

:violent5:

But hey, it might be killer on DVD. That's the only place where I'm going to catch it anyway, so no big deal for me.

I thought this was a joke? Are you serious? A four hour cut of that? Did they not have a script? I'm sitting here making the same face that I do every time a commercial for the movie comes on. ewwwww. (I can see my reflection in the computer monitor, that's how I know) ;-)
