Guys, I met with Huang from Tilta yesterday afternoon. They did say that TeamTilta were impostors and had bought a large batch of rigs and were selling them off via their bogus site. Once they were done selling it, they closed up shop and disappeared. They mentioned they have a "North American distributor" in Denver. I told them that they need a distributor in Los Angeles ASAP. They looked at me puzzled. I think they don't realize that if they don't have a distributor in Los Angeles they basically aren't on the map.
It was a strange experience meeting them in person. Huang was a lovely person and very friendly. Their whole staff was polite and very friendly. Their biggest problem? Their english isn't that great. They are still getting used to dealing with Americans and have a hard time understanding us. I assured that I really like their product and there are a lot of us who are fans and really want them to take off for the price.
They had some demo's of their new larger RED, Blackmagic, C300 setups. Their gear is solidly built. They have a larger mattebox, new baseplate and shoulder rig. They also had a monitor that was machined out of a solid block of aluminum! But they really didn't have any details.
I got the impression that they were a bit overwhelmed. This was their 1st NAB and were getting used to how it works.
I suggested they contact EVS camera in Glendale, CA and get hooked up with them. Hopefully we can get them hooked up with EVS can get a solid, accessible dealer here in Los Angeles!
