MYT Works Glide - Slider Group Buy

Hi :)

I started on reduser.net a thread about making a slider group buy. We got many offers from companies like Kessler, Cinevate, DiTo Gear and others, but voted in the end for the offer by MYT Works. I asked MYT if it's possible to extend the group buy to bmcuser and dvxuser, and they agreed. Julia and Etienne from MYT Works will also post here to answer all your questions. So, here are all the details about the MYT Glide group buy. You can also have a look at the MYT thread on reduser, since many questions were already answered there.

You can see the MYT offer on my blog. Send me a pm to get the password.

Deadline for the group buy will is on Monday morning, August the 26th.

Here are the information from my blog:

For orders of 20 of more, they could start shipping within 15 business days and should be finished within six weeks.

They are working on a motor upgrade for their sliders, but asked me not to share the information until they are nearly finished. The price sounded very "reasonable" (definitively affordable for anyone considering to purchase a MYT slider).

Orders and shipment would be individual. First of all, nobody would have to take care of sending out the sliders or of all the money.

Also, individual packages are possible, so that everyone can decide which package they want.

This is how it works:

You create an account on the MYT online store.

You send me the name and email address under which you registered at their store. I'll send the list of names to MYT.

Julia from MYT adds us REDuser/DVXuser to a special group (you will only see discounted pricing once she has placed you in the group).

MYT will use the assumed quantity bracket of 25-30 orders [see blog for the discount percentage], but we only need to reach 20 orders!

Log-in to their store and start to purchase with the discounted pricing, and hopefully we reach the 20 orders.

If not enough orders come in, the money will be refunded (paypal fee gets split 50/50 between you and MYT). If more orders come in, we get a discount for the next purchase.

Cheers
David

PS: I do not work for MYT. I started doing group buys, when I realized that we can get a lot of equipment cheaper that way, equipment that I could otherwise barely afford.

MYT and I decided to postpone the deadline for one week, since many people contacted me in the last days and today.

So the new deadline is August 26 11am EDT!

Tomorrow, Monday 26th at 11am EDT, is the deadline for the group buy. We have enough orders in to make the group buy successful, so you you can be sure that you'll get you unit if you place an order.

hmmmm... nope. There are some differences :) MYT / igus

Not to say that igus doesn't work. But it's more of a DIY approach for smaller cameras.

No... Those are two igus rails (my guess is the 16-60mm) on their side and the camera mount rides on igus carriages. This would be an easy build...just saying. The high cost comes from the CNC camera mount, connecting bars and end-caps. But...yes, it's really just another igus- based slider.

Might have to make my own version of this one just for fun!

...and let me just add that their products are beautifully engineered, I just try to find solutions for the INDIE (meaning poor, like me) filmmaker's.
