Mystery "Digital Cinema Camera" over at EOSHD

It's the new EOSHD-CAM or maybe the MKII REID-CAM :)

RAW, 6K, Anamorphic & all on SDHC cards.

LOL.

... or maybe not? maybe it's the birth of a new Kickstarter?

Actually it looks like whatever slr that needs an EVF add on. Can't remember who makes it.

But the lack of much that makes a digital cina camera just that
Makes it look like a rehoused DSLR.

There was a guy here that had plans etc drawn up for a rehoused GH2. Is that it?

Oops! I stand corrected. It is an NEX, and I even own an NEX-5N.

Still, I don't know if the video quality coming from the NEX is worth all that trouble.

Also, doesn't the VG20 use the same chip as the NEX-5N? Why not just get the VG20? It doesn't need to be kept cool, it doesn't overheat.

Wasn't a post to correct you... just an info update :)

I agree that it doesn't seem worth the trouble...

But, a good way to drive hits to a website :)

I'm also not sure it's worth all that trouble, but... I bought a 5N a couple of weeks back, and so far I'm very happy with it, it seems like a nice evolutionary upgrade from my 550D: smaller, lighter, less image artifacts, similar DR. I may change my mind when I start grading footage (some people complain that the codec breaks down easily), but so far, it's looking pretty good. I shot a shootout yesterday with the 5N, D800, 550D, and GH2, it should be online in a week or two.

Hey, that's exactly what I did! The VG20 is actually a very cool little camera. Far as overheating goes, I shot a Vietnam Memorial Dedication on Memorial Day in record setting heat with the camera unprotected from the blazing sun - and not a single problem. Never could have done that with most DSLRs:
