I have contacted our Legal Council... As you guys all know from my History I dont screw around with this and I suggest you all file a complaint with your local FBI office..

We have also submitted a global complaint with the Cyber Investigation division of the FBI so I may need some of your contact information for those of you that care.. you can send that to Jarred @ red.com.

Thx all...

The guy left me a voice mail this morning saying that the films were "legally seized" under California Law and that the options were to try and sell them or put them online as income generators.

Legally seized from WHOM? None of us have signed rights over to anyone.

Will call him back later.

Maybe he figures that if he sends some legal-sounding noise your way, you'll get all scared and back off.

"legally seized" under California Law? LOL.... WOW.... You guys are dealing with the short film pirate of the year.... Plus he's going to try to sell YOUR short film! Talk about a hostile take over.....

They even got my 17th place Horrorfest entry. :) I want my check for my 15 views!

This MUST be serious if it got:

1) Jason to crawl out of the shadows TWICE
2) Jarred to post/contact lawyers
3) Penguin to lack any witty joke other than a thinly veiled version of the one he told last night.

It is VERY serious and everyone here has done a very good job thus far handling it.

And Penguin, please refrain from talking about yourself in the third person. It just expedites your inevitable slip into insanity.

This guy could have easily avoided all this if he had just contacted the filmmakers (a few minutes of e-mailing) and asked permission to promote their work and possibly provide them with income. What a loser. Just another get rich quick scammer who can't create work of his own so he must steal others.

But I'm a little hurt he didn't want to steal my film, The Loner. :( Maybe it was my nude scene. lol

Penguin is sad that he has failed to gain the respect of the glorious Sir. Ryan Patrick O'Hara. The voices are even more saddened by the fact that Sir. O'Hara believes The Penguin to be going insane.

Maybe I am already insane and you have now offended me! Oh! And, for future reference, I would appreciate it if you addressed me as Colonel or Sir, I believe I've earned it. (5 points if you can name what movie that is from. It is a very easy one.) I will also accept Chancellor or Czar. Now, stop making me write off-topic posts and go get this ninny-hammer who stole your work!

What a crock! Geez, maybe I'd even give that a second's thought, if say the company itself was located in California AND all of the filmmakers were located in CA! But since neither is the case, he's a moron to leave such a message.

Jack got a call back, and I didn't. Blah, show's how little I rank even OFF of DVXuser, lol.

BTW, everyone, I got a call from someone today telling me more about this story. The individual was contacted by someone with regards to this site, who had been contacted by Jarred and/or his legal, and was trying to figure out what had happened. Ultimately, this site was a BETA, and never went live.

The individual who called me felt responsible & bad for all of this, as they had been contacted by this person (the one who owns or runs the site, I guess - not the Cleary guy, however) ... what they were asked last year was if they knew of any good films that may work for a site such as this, etc. The individual mentioned their own film, as well as a bunch of others here on DVXuser, and suggested that person CONTACT us to see if we'd be interested. Unfortunately, the site owner never contacted us & instead just raped DVXuser of all the films they wanted ... I guess they felt it was okay since it was just a BETA, and not actually making profit yet.

I let the individual know I had no malintent towards them, and that they only had the best intentions ... it was this OTHER person that screwed up royally. Even if the site was BETA, and simply to raise interest from investors or actual companies wanting to buy ad space, the fact is that they broke copyright laws by posting frame grabs of our works without our permission, and more importantly was using our content to help them try & raise money and/or potential profit, again without permission.

Hopefully the site is just deleted ASAP. I just checked, and am quite surprised that it's still even up at this point, BETA or not. Geez, it only takes about 5 minutes or less to go in & delete all files, HTML, etc., so not sure what's holding this joker up?

Too easy... That's from the first play I ever did :)

Oh, and I may be in the shadows of late rather than screwing around with your custom title, but I'm still tapped into the matrix

On topic:
Has anyone actually gotten any of the films to play on that site? I tried a couple and it never played for me...
Hopefully the site is just deleted ASAP.

I give it 24 hours max.

Later,
Jason

Nope, none have played for me either. I don't know if any ever have played or not. Regardless, still other people's images up there without permission for the purpose of profit in one way or another. I know YOU know that, just stating the obvious. :)

Just checked and the site has been removed. Now there's just a splash page with "Coming soon" on it.

DVXuser does it again!!

A Few Good Men ?

These dudes on classic films are dumbasses. Common sense is apparently not something their parents taught them.
