My Work in H.264

Nice stuff! I only wish I could get it together to render mine out that way. I have tried every setting I can come up with and they all look like dirt or the file sizes are crazy. Sorenson squeeze 4 won't do it, Vegas 5 crashes at 10% every time except once where it produced a georgeous looking 10.6 GB file from an 856mb original. premiere produces wacked out huge files and wont let me adjust settings. QT7 takes four years to render and gives me crap....How in the name of God are you guys getting it right, or more to the point, WTF am I doing wrong!!!

:P

You asked:

So I told you what you are doing wrong compared to us folks that render out in H.264. You can't make H.264 with Windows right now because QT 7 Pro is not available for Windows right now- only the Mac. The PC version is in beta mode right now.

You asked a question, I gave you the answer- get a Mac.

You can still export from other PC programs if you have the beta. But, yeah, it doens't work so great on my PC.

.

The only way right now is on a Mac.

This I would have understood. But to suggest I rush out and buy a Mac because windows QT 7 is not in final yet is out there.

It's not much more efficient than wm9. They are extremely close. The compression interface is much better, though.

I like to keep my answers short and sweet!

Well...It was definately short:evil:

I was aware of the Beta thing but didn't realize that it was affecting my output, thanks for pointing that out. I just read the final version is to be released this summer.

I love wm9 and always get better compression with smaller file sizes than QT can produce. The powers that be however will not let our Mac based cousins have the power to view these great files and so it is that I post in QT.

what is all this h.264 buisness? is it a new compression? thats what it lloks like to me.
Oh and for some reason im only getting audio from your clip :(
im on a new g5 so i should be able to see it.

H.264 is a new codec compression for the web by Apple. Esentially for HD output. You need QT 7 to see it.

And we can see WMV 9 content on a Mac. They have a Windows Media Player that works just fine- it's WMV 10 that does not work.

Personally I get tired of hearing it. I'm happy that you're happy, whatever floats your boat. I don't have the inclanation or resourses to switch platforms at this stage of the game. All my equipment works flawlessly and always has. So please can the born again Mac sales spree. If I ever want a Mac....I'm sure I'll go get one! I'm not tryin to be a dickhead, but the whole mac pc bit gets on my nerves of late.

Me too. I'm a Mac guy and hate PC vs. Mac arguments.

Let me state again for everyone who is trying to turn this into one of those PC vs Mac threads that the only reason I said "Get a Mac" was for the simple reason that QT7 Pro was not available for the PC yet.

Now stop the debate! Mac's are going to Intel so it's all the same except for the OS!
