Hi all here viewing my thread. I've included a handful of pictures of my yet-to-be-completed ring light & a mattebox I made earlier on. Comments & suggestions are always welcome :

For the ring light, I'm thinking of drilling 5mm holes around the plastic board so that there will be 5-6 rows of holes & I insert 3watt light bulbs in each of these holes, effectively creating sort of an "area" light with all these small point lights. I know that area lights are the best for removing sharp-edge defined shadows so that my video footage of people look more like portrait & serene. Oh! And I forgot to add that I will spray the front of the plastic board with chrome paint so that it's like a fine reflective silvery surface for the light to bounce off.

Since there will be a total of about 25 small lightbulbs surrounding the plastic board, I'm not sure if I should wire the bulbs using a parellel DC circuit, or a serial DC circuit. My intuition is to connect the lightbulbs with a parallel circuit as then each bulb get the same amount of equal voltage. I'm planning to use small portable batteries to power up my ring-light. Any suggestions from electronic experts here, & others in this forum? Thanks in advance.

Andrew
