I wrote a 30 minute infomercial that just got nominated for "Best International Infomercial" by ERA--the major trade union of the DRTV industry. Not exactly the Oscars but I'll take it! What the heck. The infomercial industry really is yucky (a rung above the porno industry) but they do pay and no matter what, I still get a kick out of seeing performers mouth my lines, even if it is, "Pick up the phone and CALL NOW!"
All these years we toil writing screenplays does have these ancillary benefits--writing an infomercial is so easy comparatively. If you don't mind prostituting yourself, stuff like this is good way to get some cash.
