My problem

I sold my XL1s and I don't have a video camera. I'm waiting to see what will be coming out. My problem is my brother has a internet company and he wants sales videos made. I also want to do other things as well. I don't know how long I can wait. This new HVX looks good if it has tape, but it will be late fall before it hits the shelfs. I don't want a XL2, but I do want 16:9. The sales video just have to be on DVD 4:3. Buy a DVX or rent one maybe? I really hate to spend the money on a DVX100 if this new camera can record on to tape with real 16:9. I will at least wait a week to see what its going to do.

Any good rental places in Illinois?

The thing is, it's probably going to be six months before the new HVX is available for sale.

If you've got paying jobs now, get a camera now. If the DVX does what you need, buy it, use it, and then if you want to sell it, sell it. Even if you take a $1,000 hit in the price, that's really only equivalent to about six days' rental, so it's not that much (in the context of using it for paying jobs).
