well i set all the levels right and the output of my AT 897 mic is really low..the guy at PSC said i should change my swiitch to "D" (dynamic) instead of "C" (condensor)...am i going to have trouble doing this?? i already did and it helped a lot, but just seems odd to set the switch to Dynamic for a Condensor mic...

guess all that matters is that it sounds good..

this is bad name to attenuation on mixer input .
nothing wrong to set it to d position and get another 15 db for low output microphones.
usually the output from condenser microphone will be to much for the same amplifying stage and would distort your preamp on high peaks.
the mix pre from Sound devices has 10 db attenuation automatically when you switch to phantom power position ,what might be not enough for some quit condensers ( sound devices can readjust the attenuation for these who wish it . or you can do it by your self , the schemes are on the web)

psc just call it dynamic input for these who dont understand anything about microphone specification or what mixer to buy :-)
