My NTG-3's prong is uneven

One of three prongs on my NTG-3 mic is longer than the others by a little bit. The mic works perfectly fine, but I was wondering if others had this.

Yes. It could of been when they soldered the leads on the pins, it heated up and moved a bit. Is it loose? If not, don't worry about it.

My NTG-2 was the same way. I remember reading somewhere that it's designed so the ground pin goes in first.

These are examples of Rode's attention to detail in design. The longer pin is pin 1 and is connected to ground. It's longer on purpose so that when plugging into the cable, the ground connection is the first to contact, thus protecting the mic's internals if the cable has any voltage on it.

LOL, never knew that. Kudos to Rode. Most of the time I see that is when someone got happy with an iron.

Also in the same area .. if you haven't read in the Rode mic manuals, make all your 48volt powered mic. connections and only then switch the 48volts ON.

Before disconnecting, turn the power OFF.

Cheers.
