My new toys.

I remember back at the beginning of this thread when I was so happy. Those were the days.

LOL. It's still a great setup, I think you could place your g2 similar to Dan.

I have 2 1610 now (wheeled cases) and there is no looking back. The ability to just drag the stupid thing behind you is priceless at the end of the day. I actually prefer it when I have a job that requires my 1610 equipment instead of a cart setup. Means I can drive the more fuel efficient car too.

I have 3 of the cases TeleDan has in his picture. You can get them in the tool section at Home Depot. The wife brought one home one day all excited that she found something like my $100 Pelican for cheap. I was sceptical at first but they do work out great for non-fragile stuff. You can put delicate stuff in there but you can't abuse it like a Pelican. For $20 who could complain.

Nice setup Craig. It's amazing how quickly Petrol has taking off in the audio arena. Was not less then 4 years ago every sound guy had the ugly PB blue hanging off their chest. No the orange/blue is becoming the sound guy's colors. I hope Oleg got some profit sharing in his work with them. :)

Cheers

Before I forget, yeah the 401's have their antenna semi-permenantly attached. It is the biggest drawback to them over the 410's. For storage I had grown weary of removing and attaching antenna anways so I have taking to using similar storage means as TeleDan. A bit annoying but worth the $500 savings.

Cheers

My two options are

1) Buy some new pluck foam for 15 bucks and do it like Dan. That $15, BTW will almost get me to the price of the Bigger, wheeled PB 2 pack.

or

2) Return my Pelican and get the Wheeled PB with free smaller case (which I think is bigger than my pelican, but is godawful blue)

-We'll see.

Just a quick FYI in case you didn't know, you can glue those plucked foams back in place. They hold better then the orignal perferated foam bonding IMO. After years of use the glued back foam holds together better then the original stuff which often ends up ratted and falling off in my experience.

Cheers

LOL... sorry to whoever started this stupid thread for thread pollution, but, every once in a while I'll look over at my avatar and feel just like poor lil Mathilda.

I need sleep.

Wabbit,
What kind of glue have you found to work for this? My son is into R/C stuff and had some foam-friendly glue that might work. As you can see from my photo, I've used gaffer tape to protect the edges where I've plucked out the foam but it doesn't hold up well.
Thanks,
Dan

TeleDan,

Thanks for posting the link for the PB case deal on B&H...I just ordered the largest wheeled case to try out - I'll let everyone know how it turns out. (And, I actually am kinda digging the blue...so to each his/her own, I guess). ;-)

wabbit, thanks on the rubber cement. I'll try that.

Phil, glad the deal works for you. The blue doesn't bother me too much either. Depending on your circumstances, an obvious color might make it easier to keep an eye on your gear. I look forward to hearing what you think of it.

Hey all,

Got the cases yesterday, and on first inspection, they look pretty good. The blue isn't as light and bright as it looks in the pictures. I got the largest wheeled case, and I actually think it's too big. I had originally intended it for my recorder, 302, 416, Octava, and such for airplane travel, and it is too deep and heavy (I think). It's still a very cool case, sturdy as the pelicans and about 1/3 the price (or less, when you take into account the free case). The free case is a bit small, but I know I'll find a great use for it (maybe my IFB setup...with headphones and all in one case.)

So, overall, I'd have to recommend the cases....just pay attention to the sizes...I figured bigger would be better (especially for only $10 difference in price). Oh well, now I'll have to buy a couple more.

Still working on a picture to show how I've cased my G2's. Hopefully by this weekend.

Phil
