Hi all, I have been at this video thing for about two years. And though I have wanted from day one to shoot corporate gigs. I do not want to make a movie or film a documentary. I just want to make money shooting corporate gigs. My question is this...Where do I find info. on real world experiences and techniques about shooting corporate projects? All I see are videos and articles about making movies and documentaries. Thanks for your help!

Corporate is everyone's bread and butter - noone talks about it because it's boring and uncreative but it taus a ton of people's bills. So noone really writes insightful article about it but if you ask questions lots of people will chime in.

First learn how to light, then watch other corporate videos to see how they lit it. Spend some time trying to recreate it, then put your personal touches on it for how YOU think any particular video should be shot.

There's no right way to do it, but there are a lot of wrong ways.

Thanks guys! I thought there might be someone doing some cool stuff in the corporate video world. Or a new way to light. Or a great way to do an interview. Thanks for your replies!

Well, then you gonna be breaking with your head through a concrete wall. Most corporate people are bureaucrats. This means they think in certain way and for you to succeed - you have to change your way of thinking to fit theirs. So while in the arts creativity and uniqueness are very important, in corporate world it's something everyone aspires to BUT without ruffling any feathers (which in essence is counter to creativity and uniqueness). SO you end up with double talk: be creative, but not too creative, so you end up relaying on old tricks to get job done.

Maybe see if you can shadow someone at a corporate production company or find another way to get facetime with someone who makes corpoate videos for a living. I used to do 90% corporate before I got into stock footage, doesn't take long to get good at them.

There's corporate and there's corporate...
Corporate can be many things. It can be creative, it can be exciting. Of course, it can be as dull as dishwater too, but there's a world of difference between shooting some junk for a for a local firm and making a video for a global brand or a government or a charity or Royal Household... ...you get the idea.

Look up who's won the Webby Awards or New Film Festival Awards or the IVCA Awards or the Cannes Awards, check out their websites and you'll see plenty of inspiring work.

The same is true for wedding photography and videography... every bride wants her day (grooms just there to say 'I do'...) to be 'creative', 'perfect', and the images show it... then if one actually does 'creative', only a few will appreciate it... others may actually demand their money back...

Even people's who are in the arts view of what's creative differs HUGELY, so something that's run of the mill for one is the discovery of sliced bread for another.
