Just got back. It was awesome. Stressfully, hecticly, brutally awesome.
Instead of writing my experience to share I have made a little video but I will say this...
Grumpy old men aint mad about what they did in life. They are mad about what they didnt do.
Go do it.

Hey, Grinner, that was pretty good, handholding the digi camera in one hand, whipping around to get the inserts, and editing in your head how you'd knock out the dead spots later. LOL

So what is NATPE all about. I know you pitched a TV show or something, but what is NATPE? A TV content trade show?

NATPE sells opportunity. You buy a ticket and get 10 minutes with catchers, hoping to get 5 pitches in during the day. Picture one of those dating services when couples get to know each other for 10 minutes, a timer goes of and they rotate. Exact same thing here. You sit down, give em your best and try your best to float to the top in their minds.
You go in with two scheduled appointments for your 500 dollar entry fee. Then you scavange in what they call the bull pen to try to get more pitches. I managed 7 in the day... most got about 5. Ya have to be very aggresive. Out of those 7 pitches, only two wanted a sizzle reel and a one sheet.

Today I am getting nibbles that are really putting wind in my sails and I have no doubt my show will get on the air as a direct result of this trip.

Now, my biggest client, Anheuser-Busch was just consumed by a bigger company. This was NOT a trip I could afford right now.
Thing is, I couldnt afford not to do it. I have worked on this labor of love for several years and this was my last shot at making it pay off.
Opportunity does not always come knocking at your door. Sometimes ya have to buy it.
This is what NATPE is for.
