My Most Complicated Matchmove Thus Far. After/before With Passes

First I purposely shot some handheld shakey footage to make the track harder. Then I tracked the shot in Syntheyes using supervised trackers.

I then brought the footage into Cinema 4D. I used my tracker nulls to build shadowcathers and proxy geometry for the spheres to fall on. I used sliverbullet for the dynamics in Cinema 4D. Then setup a multipass export to After Effects including exporting some of my tracking nulls so I could use those to make smoke/dust in AE.

Brought everything into AE then composited including adding motion blur to the CG elements, added smoke/dust with particular and color corrected.

Hopefully some people find this interesting :).

Very cool work! Using proxy geometry for shadow casting etc. seems really powerful, and it's great for realflow as well. Have you seen: http://superfad.com/player.php?project=105&item=217. I know the artist (can't remember who, unfortunately) used a proxy arm he tracked to burst the ball of water he made in realflow so it would line up with the real life arm motions...

Hey that looks awesome. Good work. It just looked like the balls weren't falling fast enough on the last step though. Do you know if there are ways to bring animated 3d elements into an ae or motion project and then still have the ability to change the camera angle around the animations? I have been curious if this is a route other then bringing in just a 2d animated layer. Thanks.

Here is a updated version.

Version 2.0 I fixed the proxy geometry so the spheres fall off much more realistic now. I also tracked in a digital lens flare.

Thanks for the kind words Daniel J and grahamdunn.

Daniel: pretty much AE won't allow you to do that. You must plan out he camera animation in your 3d package or used your match movecamera like I did. Once you get it into ae its just a 2d flat layer but you can still do some really cool things.

Graham: That was pretty cool I've never seen that.

Thought I would add my latest test in here as well since I used AE for compositing.

Few more matchmove tests. I purposely shot this with really bad conditions. Hand held, walking, horrible lighting, no tracking markers and not a whole of geometry to track in the scene. I used supervised tracking in Syntheyes.

Their is a small jump/jitter which I mistakenly did in Cinema 4D. The track was fine but I moved a key frame in Cinema and that gave me a jump :(.

Here was a early render before I messed up the key frames in Cinema :(
