My mic keeps making thumping sounds.

Okay I'll video myself making the sounds. I can't put the mic on a stand though, cause I have to follow myself with the mic while making the sounds. I have a DIY shockmount but perhaps it isn't as good. It does great when booming people though, but maybe not for more things that are a little more physical. I don't have time to get a new one before I need all these sounds done to send them off to the engineer. But I will what I can do otherwise and make that video when I get home.

You can't have "too much phantom power" - it's laid down in international specifications as 48V + 4V and 10mA.

You can't have too much but you can go below. Phantom power tops out at 48V but it goes down to 12 (I believe, maybe 15).

Okay thanks. I tried the SM57 microphone, a collaborator of mine, just so happen to have, but it doesn't sound near as good as the AT4053b, quality wise. If I use that to record effects I will would have to bring down the sound quality of the other audio, just to match the SM57, but I don't want to do that. The audio engineer says he could clean it up no problem, but I guess that's what they are paid for. I still want to make their jobs easy. I put in the sounds even though their maybe some wind thumping or whatever you want to call it, but I will get that 10db pad next time or something.
