My life is a steaming pile of...

Hey all.

Sorry I've been gone for nearly 2 months.

I need to vent, so feel free to just ignore me.

As of Christmas, I had finally saved up $6,000 to buy a DVX and all the trimmings. I worked for a year, scrubbing toilets, mopping floors, and taking **** from my employer, who I like to refer as Satan.

When it came time to make my Christmas purchase, I found out things that I thought were only possible in movies.

My MOTHER, had stolen my checkbook, debit card, and credit card and had cleaned me out of every penny I own. AND, she charged thousands of dollars on that credit card that I now, with no money, have to pay back. I am 21 years old, a straight A student, and my credit is ruined.

Oh, but that's just the beginning. My MOTHER had also cleaned out my Father's 401k and his bank account. She illegally stole over $150,000.

My family is now penniless and living with my grandmother in Colorado. My sister and I had to drop out of college because my MOTHER had stolen our student loan checks and we coudn't pay.

I am hurt, alone, and scared shitless.

I just don't know what to do.

Damn it, I tried my best to make my dream film career a reality, and here I am freezing my ass off in CO watching everyone else kick ass with their DVX in the SciFi fest.

Ya know what though? I'm going to start over. I'm not going to give up. I'm going to get that camera even if it kills me.

I hope I make it one day. I really do.

This will be one hell of a comeback story.

I lost my mother and my money, but I still have my dreams.

Anyways, I really need you guys to cheer me up, if you don't mind. If anyone needs it, I do.

Thanks

Dude bro

You just gotta roll with this one mang. I know it sucks. But it aint the end of the world even if it feels like it. Ive been through so much stupid **** in my life and its nothing

Credit is reapairable especially in time of fraud, School will be there when you go back, the DVX will be there still....

Your 21. Its time to ante up and be the man. Take care of your own business on your terms.

Wow... What an awful thing to hear Sup. Just plain saddening. :(

I wish had some way of helping out. I know it doesn't do poo poo now, but you will bounce back.

May sound corny, but keep your head up. Don't let it hurt you too much. It will be better one day I'm sure of it.

Sorry to hear the terrible news, ST. As Dakotapod and hudson mentioned, keep your head up and keep busting your ass. Good karma will come your way eventually.

A great person recently told me that "Life pretty much ends up the way you expect it to. EXPECT MORE. EXPECT BETTER. Expect to be treated better and you will be. Expect a better job and you'll get one."

Chin up. You're tougher than this situation, I'm sure.

here take a look at this

Wow, that's a tough hand you and your dad got dealt--I'm really sorry to hear it. But you're young and you're going to land on your feet. As terrible as this is, it's going to make you even more determined to realize your dreams. Almost everyone faces some terrible events in their life, but the test is how you deal with it. You deserve some time to get royally effed up and mad and feel sorry for yourself. And then it'll be time to pull it all together and kick @ss. We're with you, man.

I just don't know what to do.

Write a movie about it.

You've just gone through, probably the most interesting story that is worth
telling in your 21 years on this rock.

Its true, its raw and its worth writing about.

Chin up, but only long enough to swill down more coffee to keep you writing :)

I couldn't have said it better than Barry did. When he said 'We're with you' he meant it. We REALLY are. If there's ever anything I can do, you let me know.

Man, sorry to hear about some rough-ass times. First thing to do from a practical standpoint is call all of your credit card companies, your school, your bank, and report all stolen items - mom or no mom. You're not doing anyone any favors by allowing them to **** on their loved ones. Obviously, your mom has some serious problems - just remeber that SHE is the one who is ****ed up right now, not YOU.

As others have said - you're 21. You have your whole life ahead of you and this **** will pass. I know it sucks beyond belief right now, but it will pass and you will move on. You've already got the right attitude of moving forward.

There are a few ways most people deal with getting seriously ****ed with, especially by those closest to you. One is to never trust anyone anymore - understandable but only makes you miserable and lonely. Remember, this is ONE individual who obviously has some seriously ****ed up **** going on in her life. I am NOT excusing her by ANY means - just remember that not everyone has the same issues she has (obvious, I know - but I also know it's real easy to lose trust in everyone.)

The other thing people do is become angry, bitter and repeat (in big ways or small ways) the same acts they were victimized by. Like it or not, our parents have a tremendous pull on our psyches (I've learned this from experience - we emulate the best AND worst of our parents often). So always remind yourself that you are not your mom or anyone else - you're your own man.

Lastly, people get through rough times with a greater appreciation for the things they do have and a larger sense of compassion for others in tough circumstances. That's the only way to really deal with hardship in a healthy way.

If you're like me, you sure as hell aren't perfect and, frankly, you'll probably do a little bit of everything mentioned. But try to keep the last reaction in the front of your mind. As ****ed up as it may sound, the only way to feel better is to remind yourself of all the blessings you still have. You've got your health, a roof over your head, family members who are dealing with this with you, and the ability to get back everything you've lost!

I know I totally sound like Stuart Smalley and I apologize for that. I know what you're going through SUCKS and you deserve sympathy. It always helps to talk about these horrible situations - but the more positive you can remain the better. Last bit of advice (christ, I love to hear myself "talk" sometimes): Be proactive and not reactive. Report the problems to appropriate places, look for a job, post on DVXuser! Good luck, man. This **** will pass and you'll be wiser in the end...

Man, that F-N sux. I (we) feel for you. I don't know what else to say that the others haven't already said but I'm sorry for what happend to you and remember that whatever doesn't kill you only makes you stronger.

Keep your head up.

ST -- that is just about the most horrible thing I've heard recently.

You have been dealt some horrible cards. But the thing to keep in mind is: while we cannot control what happens to us, we can control how we react to it.

And you're already demonstrating the resilience you need. You've already said you're going to buckle down and start saving again. That's solid gold.

Wealth, and worth, comes from inside. It bugs me that I don't remember who this quote was from, but someone loaded (like J. Paul Getty or Henry Ford or someone) was once asked something like "yeah, sure you're on top of the world now, but what would you do if you woke up tomorrow and you were bankrupt?" And he answered "I'd have it all back within six months." Even if they took away his "stuff", he'd still have all the knowledge and skill and drive that put him on top of the mountain in the first place, so he'd just climb it again.

What has happened to you is awful. What's happened to your dad is awful. And you can't change that. But it's what you guys do now, going forward, that will be your defining moment. And it's very heartening to see that you're determined to persevere anyway. A lesser man would let this get the better of him.

Let us know how we can help.

Jesus.. thats a bad one. You really got screwed man.. and by your mom makes it probally as bad as it can get.

But.. its done, and your young enough to bounce back. Dont worry about the credit thing, it was fraud and you can get all that erased. We will be here untill you come full circle, and im sure the anger this has put you through will make your filmmaking more pationate.

I know it sucks.. but it will get better. I can look back at every really crappy thing that happened to me over the years and reflect how it made me stronger.
