Man, I feel for you. I have no idea what that could be? Was it really hot outside? Maybe sunlight reflected off of something and hit the lens. Even that is remote because I have pointed my Extreme directly at the sun a time or two and nothing like that has ever happened. Best of luck.

actually that has happened to me as well...the lens element behind the ground glass fell out on my adapter. I dont know how it happened, I came back after 3 days of not using it and noticed the lens was halfway out rubbing against the ground glass and prism. I have to send mine in for repair....
That's what that line is...a crack.

That ain't no crack.....
Is more of a bend in the screen possible caused by two different heat expanding coeficients; the screen and the screen holder.
Could you post a still from footage?
Looks like lubricant on the clear glass protector. The lubricant is used to catch dust. If it is you can clean that right off. Remove that outer housing and clean that off.

Here is a still (which apparently became interlaced at some point) that shows the line down the middle.

Yeah 'tis in their hands now. I am just wondering what the heck happened so I can possibly prevent it in the future.
