my layer disappears after luma matte transitions???

I'm trying to fade in a shape layer using a luma matte on the track above but as soon as the luma matte finishes transitioning from black to white, my shape layer beneath vanishes.

Any way to have the shape layer beneath the luma matte stay visible after the luma matte finishes fading in??? I don't understand because my shape layer extends the full length of my timeline but vanishes as soon as the luma matte finishes.

The layer will stay there after the fade, something else is going on there. Make sure the track layer is there for the entire duration.
