My Latest Adventure

So 3 buddies and myself thought it would be a fun idea to take a road trip out to colorado and go out to my family's cabin for a week. So we get out there no hitch, spend a week hiking and stuff.

So it comes time for us to come home. We're driving through the Rocky's and the car over heats. No biggie, we pull over, let it cool off, add some fluid and water. Then, when we're almost out of Colorado, the car starts pulling left, so we take it in to a local mechanic. He says one of the wheels and rotars is shot, have to get new parts from the junk yard. 3 hours later, we are back on the road. 2 more overheatings later, we run out of gas. Once we push the car to the pump, we need a jump. We get a jump and are on our merry way.

Well, one last overheating, and the car is dead. So my buddy and I have to hitch hike across Utah (SCARY) to the next town, call a tow truck, and have the car towed. In the morning the mechanic tells us the car is shot. His wife drives us 3 hours to Salt Lake City, so we can get on standbys, and FINALLY get home.

Lesson learned, never take a car on a road trip if you say this phrase first "Yea, it'll probably make it."

Re: My Latest Adventure

hey, in the process, you could've made a film for august's contest, "an accident waiting to happen." :P glad you made it back safely...

Re: My Latest Adventure

I did learn that you meet VERY interesting people when hitchhiking. First we were picked up by this guy driving this huge white caddilac with huge fuzzy dice hanging from the mirror. My buddy tried to roll up the window and the guy said "You touchin' my window? ****, next thing you'll be touchin my radio! HAH! I'm just messin' wit ya boy." It was hilarious.

And the mechanics wife (who was so insanely sweet) brought along her young son, and he was concerned that he wouldn't make it back to town in time for a ho-down. I mean no offence, but I didn't honestly think those still existed.

Re: My Latest Adventure

LMAO

Are you serious? Thats classic and makes great stuff for your future filmmaking! A Ho-Down? I've heard of them but have no idea what it is. Is it like when you get a bunch of.....

Nevermind. ::)

Re: My Latest Adventure

I almost took a camera too. I really wish I had, that would have been great.

Re: My Latest Adventure

OMG it would be classic. You could totally sell something like that. Roadtrip from haitis.

Re: My Latest Adventure

Umm... Didn't you guys watch 6 Feet Under about a month ago? Where David got kidnapped? Yea, I don't think I'd ever pick anyone up after seeing that. And I'd have to be pretty desperate to get a ride from a stranger. I dunno, that episode just freaked me out.

Re: My Latest Adventure

i agree i can't hitchhike, i'm too freaked out to pick one up or get picked up. something about mary, anyone? 7 minute abs.

Re: My Latest Adventure

Yea, we were in the middle of NOWHERE though, we couldn't have walked it. and there were two of us, and only one of him, so i wasn't worried about it. Actually, when we got back, everyone told me how crazy they thought I was for doing it, and it didn't even cross my mind that it was dangerous. I suppose I should really be more wary.

Re: My Latest Adventure

I've been toying around with that idea for a few days now actually.
