My first wedding video

Admittedly, I think this is pretty boring ... I'm just at a loss to spice it up without trying to throw in a bunch of FX which could just get noisy instead, not to mention look amateur.

I could have posted this in the DVX grabs section, but didn't want to clog it with something that's probably not STAND OUT. That said, check it out & let me know what I could do to improve the next one ... if I ever take on one of these jobs again.

Shot DVX100a, 30P, slowed down 20% for a 24P timeline. 99% of the shots were on the SteadyTracker Extreme, which is just a stick with no gimbal.

Oh, as a side note, it could have been worse. The bride had originally selected a Santana song to go for the highlight video, but after I listened to it, and it sounded like EXTREME easy listening music, I convinced her that she needed something with more emotion.

I really liked that video. I could only hope for a video that well done for my first wedding. Congratulations, and glad you picked that song over the Santana one!

Looked good to me...I think simple is better. They want to see the day, they aren't interested in flashy effects, cheesy hearts and corny sound fx. The camera moves were nice and fluid and kept the interest up (as much as possible, considering I have no knowledge of these people).

It looks professional and I think they will be very happy with it.

Peace,
Larry

That was great Norm! I've done about four or five weddings... doing another this summer. This was a great job... those spinning shots were awesome!

Michael Bay inspired the spinning shots. :) Thanks for the props guys, maybe I'm just too harsh of a critique. Should get Hudson to chime in on here, as he's always brutally honest with his opinion (love ya' John)!
