My First Treatment

Re: My First Treatment

I loved it. In fact I dig all of your work thus far and each one gets better and better. You had one shot in particular that had water going up the sill. Very cool and creative.

Re: My First Treatment

Overall, pretty good. Some shots were very good, others were just OK. I always enjoy artistically framed shots of which you had several in your video. The opening shot did not wok for me. Too long and boring for an opening shot for a music video. If I wasn't able to fast forward, I would've lost interest. Maybe you can shorten it in edit?

I agree with the backwards water flow on the window. It was very creative;grabbed me right away. You also had some nice soft shots of the house void of people. Very nice. If this was your first music video, it was awesome. Your headed in the right direction.

Best,

Anthony

Re: My First Treatment

That was excellent work. Beautiful shots, great camera work. I thought it worked well with the song. Also had some really creative transitions. Keep it up!

Re: My First Treatment

absolutely ****ing brilliant! :D :D

I'm sorry, but I absolutely loved this - If my video comes out looking this good then I'd be a happy man indeed. My sincerest congrats.

My only comment was that the first shot was a bit long - I was wondering if the movie had started or not.

top job man, top job.

Re: My First Treatment

ok, maybe I jumped the gun. Excuse my innocence, but you said 'treatment' - so was this still shot with the DVX or no?

What tools did you use in treating the footage? I'm particularly curious about the nice slowmotion with the birds, and the very warm (diffused?) look in the bedroom towards the end. How did you achieve these?

If DVX, what settings did you use?

thanks and congrats again!

Re: My First Treatment

Thank you for all of your kinds words. I used FCPHD to edit this video. I take a lot of time to use color correction to get the different looks. The slow-mo was just a simple speed change. The opening is being changed. I was exicted to share this video before I had really finshed everything that I wanted. I will share the final cut when its ready.

My website www.MDFilms.NET will be online August 20.

Re: My First Treatment

but was it shot with the dvx? ;) tell me it is so!

Re: My First Treatment

very good man! nice look, and the song was pretty good too, nice and mellow. same comments about the opening, but your changin that anyway so its all good. The only stuff i did not like, was the shots looking at the couple while they are on the porch drinking, seemed way to fuzzy and not working well with the rest of the video. the pushin shots in the hallway seemed a little to fuzzy too. but whatever, lookin good man! how long before you have the final edit?

Re: My First Treatment

Nice shots as well! Some of them are very creative and really beautiful. I would agree about the opening. You get tired of waiting for something to happen. Another suggestion I would have is to make your cuts in time with the beat of the music. A lot of the cuts are off the beat so it doesn't flow as well as it could. Keep up the good work though!

Re: My First Treatment

it seems that it would flow better if there were more cuts on the beat at more regular intervals..and the color correction should flow in a fluid manner through out the piece instead of just on certain shots.

Re: My First Treatment

i'm a big fan of all your stuff. and that was just most definitely my favorite. i loved every shot. you are very very talented. and awesome use of failure. that's one of my favorite songs ever. i look forward to seeing more of your stuff.

Re: My First Treatment

A beautiful video.

The too-long opening shot has been adequately commented upon.

Most of the photography is really lush, it is obvious you know your way around a camera. If my stuff starts looking that rich, I'll be very pleased.

The one thing that occured to me was that almost all of your shots were locked down. You really could have brought even more interest with some gentle dolly movement. IMHO!

Re: My First Treatment

i really liked the slow pan over the bed shot near the end. also liked the 2 or 3 shots with subtle zooms... did you do that in post... seemed much smoother than i could ever pull off with the dvx.

good stuff.

Re: My First Treatment

Thanks again to all your comments. Some of the zooms were done in post. I'd like to know how this made people feel. What did you think it was about? I know this may seem like a silly question but I just wanted to know what you "the viewer" felt. Thanks again for looking. I will have more to come.

Re: My First Treatment

Hey MD- awesome work. I'm only about halfway through downloading it now, so I haven't gotten to the oft-mentioned shot of the water running up the window, but I still have a questioon about the hummingbird slow-motion. Did you shoot that at 60i? So far, that's the only way I've been able to get a smooth slow motion in FCPHD without any jerking or repeated frames (as you get when slowing down 24p). Hmm.

At any rate, I love the look and feel of the thing. A lot of people have a hard time creating a mood and atmosphere in their work and you seem to pull that off effortlessly. Keep up the good work!
