My first full feature...

I am filming my first full feature this summer. I was just wondering what road to take. Should we go the festival route and try to find a buyer? Or, should we sell independently through online and other venues? What about television? This movie will be a comedy, that is actually funny. I am not expecting miracles but with the right marketing it could do very well. Do you guys have any similar experiences or any advice would be great. Thanks.

The film market is beyond flooded. There are about 10,000 films right now looking for a home. Every college kid with money from mom to buy a new camera has made a feature and is trying to sell it. My best advice is hit the festivals hard. There are thousands of them. Get as much exposure you can to find out what kind of product you really have. We all think are work is "the best" and "really funny" but get it in festival screenings to really find out the reality of filmmaking. It's a cold world out there for filmmakers, even with great product.

Best of luck, stay with it.

festivals are great because you will meet other filmmakers and other contacts. even if your film doesnt get "picked up" you will meet a lot of people who will be able to meet a lot of people who will be able to help you in the future.
