My first film : When your crew and cast outgrow...

I've started Pre-production on a short film and have been holding auditions. One of the actresses in the project has served as a production manager and other things on other movies and is a great asset/resource and she is constantly refering people to me. I don't see this is a bad thing but I've gone from 3 people to ... 7 or 8 and it's everyone sitting around a table staring at me. I'm 18 and their all about 30. So it's totally crazy. My question is, how do I handle this? This is the first thing I've ever made that was serious. Literally and I feel like I'm having anxiety over it. Like it's to much. Is it justified to feel this way? I am happy on one hand but totally overtaken on the other.
Does anyone have any advice for me? I like the idea of working with a 2 man crew instead of 10 or so people. However, I understand that the more people I have the more input and experience I'm given by it. It rocks, but I'm freaking scared!

well this ithe itme where yo ustep up and find out if youre a real director, or jut a kid pretending ot be one. If i were you i would sstep up and take this as seriosuly as obviously they take it. if they are there. they are taking it seriously. yo ushould too. Go kick ass.

Having self doubts when stepping up to larger positions of authority is natural, no matter how old you get.

The best defense against this is preparation on your part. You are responsible for your crew and your project. So take lots of extra time to try and make sure ahead of time that all will go as planned. And plan for contingincies.

Then when everything hits the fan you'll be prepared with a plan, and able to appear cool and collected.

I think the biggest thing for me actually is in the fact of scheduling. I want to make this quickly and the more people you get the harder scheduling becomes. So my planning just went from a month away to 6.

You should take advantage of a 1st AD to handle the scheduling of your film - that is typically part of his/her job.

Be confident, project confidence and they will follow.
