My first edit using vegas 5

No idea where it's going, but I like how it kicks off at the end with the music, faster pace, and cuts.

A couple of things ... it threw me off that the dog got so close to the viewer, then we cut to the dog still coming towards us (on the porch), but now 5-10 feet away ... a jarring effect, and didn't flow.

Also, when the character stops & stands, there appears to be nothing in reach, though we see the ninja? sword VERY close near by in the shot before. Then immediately after, it seems to be right next to the character again as they reach down & sprint off with it. Not editing issues, so much as perhaps continuity.

The doorknob . . . if it's from the dog's POV, the camera angle shouldn't be from above it. Also, that much time on the doorknob really slams home that the door the guy opens is not the same door as the one the knob is on.

The first shot with the dog is really blown out, and you should lock down the camera for it (tripod).

The first scene definitely needs the ND filter 1/8 to be used. or a .3 ND screw-on filter would get the levels 1-stop lower. Try to get a program like DV rack to set your levels during shooting. So you won't need to do any major tweaks in post.

The first thing you need to do is mow that lawn. My god.

Then get yourself a copy of Barry's book.
